Plan of Salvation

The Bible tells us of our need for redemption and the way to receive that redemption. For us to need redemption, we first need to understand our sinful nature. Romans 3:23 tells us that we have all sinned; every single one of us.

(Romans 3:23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23 tells us the penalty of that sin is death. That may sound grim, but God is holy and our sinful nature separates us from Him. God’s loves us so much that he gave us the gift of eternal life through his son, Jesus Christ.

(Rom 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You may be asking yourself how this gift came about. Remember in the first part of Romans 6:23 where we learned the wages, or cost, of sin is death. Christ came to earth and died your death for you and he did it while you were still a sinner.

(Rom 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

So how do you receive this gift from God.

(Rom 10:9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This is the easiest, most precious gift you can receive. All you have to do is believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that he took your sin upon himself and died on the cross and that God raised him from the dead. If you reread Romans 10:9, you will see that God promises salvation if you do the above things; “…though shalt be saved.”

What will you gain by accepting this gift? Romans 5:1 tells us that we will be at peace with God. He can look on us as redeemed and counts us as one one his children.

(Rom 5:1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 8:1 tells us that we are free from condemnation, or blame once we receive Jesus as our savior.

(Rom 8:1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

You can receive this gift anywhere. If you would like to receive Christ as your savior, you can say this prayer.

My Heavenly Father,
I know that I am a sinner and am separated from you by my sin. I want to receive the redemption that Jesus offers me through His death, burial and resurrection. Please come into my heart, Jesus and rid me of my unrighteousness. I ask that you forgive me of my sins and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me and saving me. Please teach me to live the rest of my life for You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
